Washington, DC – HFX announced today the return of its groundbreaking global competition 15@15: Youth Building Democracy.

Launched in 2023, 15@15: Youth Building Democracy introduces youth to HFX’s vital mission of strengthening strategic cooperation among the world’s democracies.

“15@15: Youth Building Democracy is a vibrant youth initiative,” said Peter Van Praagh, HFX President. “HFX is proud to shape the future with this unmatched program that empowers future leaders to shape the trajectory of global security and prepares them for the awesome responsibility of protecting freedom.”

15@15: Youth Building Democracy is a global competition that invites 15-year-olds from around the world to submit a 15-second video about one positive change they would like to see within the next 15 years that will make their world more secure.

The winners will receive an invitation to the 2024 Halifax International Security Forum where they will participate alongside the world’s most influential leaders.

Halifax International Security Forum, hosted in Nova Scotia, Canada, is the world’s most consequential meeting on democracy and global affairs. The Forum brings together political decision-makers, senior military officers, industry leaders – and now youth! – to address the world’s most pressing security and defense challenges, all considered through the prism of strengthening strategic cooperation among the world’s democracies.

15@15: Youth Building Democracy opens for submissions on May 15, 2024 and closes for submissions on September 15, 2024.
