Halifax International Security Forum Announces the Delegation from the United States Congress for 2018 Forum

WASHINGTON, DC – Halifax International Security Forum announces the delegation from the United States Congress for the 2018 Forum in Halifax Nova Scotia, to be held November 16-18.

The bipartisan delegation will be jointly led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC). Senator Shaheen is co-chair of the newly re-established bipartisan Senate NATO Observer Group, and sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee as well as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Senator Tillis is co-chair of the NATO Observer Group and sits on the Armed Services Committee.

The delegation co-chairs will be joined by Senators John Boozman (R-AR), Appropriations Committee and NATO Observer Group; Chris Coons (D-DE), Foreign Relations Committee and NATO Observer Group; Deb Fischer (R-NE), Armed Services Committee; Tim Kaine (D-VA), Armed Services Committee; Mike Rounds (R-SD), Armed Services Committee and NATO Observer Group; and, Roger Wicker (R-MS), Armed Services Committee.

From 2009-2016, the Congressional Delegation was led by Senator John McCain. Mrs. Cindy McCain will present the inaugural John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service at this year’s Forum to the People of the island of Lesbos, Greece.

Also participating in the Forum will be Members of the US House of Representatives led by Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH), Chairman of the US Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and member of the House Intelligence Committee and House Armed Services Committee.

The Halifax International Security Forum, now celebrating its 10th year, is North America’s leading foreign affairs and defense conference, and convenes every year in November. Featuring defense ministers, top military officers, leading academics and think tankers, and senior members of the international media, more than 300 participants from over 70 countries gather together for three days to advance the Forum’s mission of strengthening strategic cooperation among the world’s democracies.
