Halifax International Security Forum Announces Inaugural Class of Peace With Women Fellowship

WASHINGTON, DC–Halifax International Security Forum is proud to present the inaugural class of the Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship:

Brigadier General Ingrid Gjerde, Norwegian Army
Colonel Katherine Graef, United States Army
Colonel Rose King, New Zealand Army
Colonel Vebhije Kuti, Albanian Land Force
Captain Jill Marrack, Royal Canadian Navy
Colonel Dr. Nicole Schilling, German Air Force

Fellows are active-duty female officers with diverse areas of expertise, including medicine, logistics, NATO operations, defense planning, and personnel management.

Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum, today made the announcement, saying:

“The inaugural class of the Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship is an esteemed group of officers who will raise the bar of military leadership. The Fellowship will give them an opportunity to challenge the limits of their traditional training and further expand their vision for the future of international security. The diversity of the group will initiate the development of an international network of women who will lead their sector in promoting a modern vision of security. Halifax International Security Forum looks forward to witnessing their growth and their contributions to the field.”

About the Fellowship
The Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship is a three-week executive tour for senior active-duty female military officers. The tour will begin on October 25 and conclude at the 10th annual Halifax International Security Forum, which will take place November 16-18, 2018. Participants will visit Washington DC, Silicon Valley, Toronto and Waterloo, and Ottawa before concluding the program in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Fellows will meet with government, military, and thought leaders as they travel through the political and technological capitals of the United States and Canada to deepen their understanding of American and Canadian strategic challenges, as well as the cutting-edge technologies transforming the realities of national security.
