FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC – Halifax International Security Forum is proud to announce the opening of the Call for Applications for the 2020 Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship.
The Fellowship is a 3-week executive tour for senior active-duty women military officers that will take place from October 26 to November 23, 2020. Fellows will visit the political capitals and technological hubs of Canada and the United States to meet with academic, government, military, technology, and civil society leaders across North America, and engage with them on a wide range of cutting-edge topics as they relate to international security.
“The Peace With Women Fellowship is very valuable to the NATO Alliance,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum. “This program advances leadership potential of its participants, and we invite militaries across the NATO Alliance to join this growing network. Doing so provides value to our mutual goals of strengthening partnerships among democracies and addressing the world’s security challenges.”
In 2019, officers from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Lithuania, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States participated in the second annual Fellowship program. For three weeks, they experienced more than 50 engagements with organizations and leaders across the international security spectrum.
The Peace With Women Fellowship culminated at the Halifax International Security Forum where participants interacted with some of the most high profile speakers, including Secretary of the Navy, Richard V. Spencer; Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Karl Schultz; a number of United States Senators and Representatives; and Minister Harjit Sajjan, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, who hosted the Forum.
