HFX ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS
November 18, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC — Halifax International Security Forum (HFX) today announced the appointment of Mark Lippert and Luis Rubio to the Forum’s Board of Directors.

“I am very pleased that Mark and Luis agreed to join what is already a very strong team of international defense and security experts,” said HFX Board Chair, Dr. Janice Gross Stein. “Their backgrounds and perspectives will be of immense benefit as we bring about strategic cooperation among democracies in an increasingly complex world.”

Mark Lippert has a distinguished career in the United States government spanning over two decades, including senior positions in a broad variety of defense agencies. From 2014 to 2017, he served as United States Ambassador to South Korea.

Luis Rubio is Chairman of the Center of Research for Development and the President of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Rubio is a global fellow at the Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute and a frequent contributor to Reforma, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and International Herald Tribune.

“The strength of HFX is its ideas and the convener role it provides for democratic leaders to have frank conversations about global threats,” said HFX President Peter Van Praagh. “I look forward to the contributions that Mark and Luis will make in shaping the Forum’s agenda for years to come.”

HFX is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, DC. The Forum is made possible by the generous support of its partners, including the Government of Canada and Club HFX.
