HALIFAX, NS — Halifax International Security Forum (HFX), North America’s leading foreign affairs and defense conference, today released its agenda and an outline of some of its leading participants.

HFX 2021 will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from November 19th to the 21st. Participants will be officially hosted by Canada’s new Minister of National Defence, Anita Anand, who will open the Forum on Friday.

Other notable keynote speakers throughout the weekend include United States Senator James Risch (R-ID), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Senator Chris Coons (D-DE), Chair of the Senate Ethics Committee; General Richard Clarke, Commander, United States Special Operations Command; Admiral John Aquilino, Commander of Indo-Pacific Command; General David Thompson, Vice Chief of Space Operations, United States Space Force; Vjosa Omani-Sadriu, President, Republic of Kosovo; and The Honourable Malcolm Turnbull, 29th Prime Minister, Australia.

  • #StandTogetherOnChina with Senator Hélène Conway-Mouret, France; Mr. Ram Madhav, Former National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, India; Gordan Grlić-Radman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Republic of Croatia; and The Honourable Malcolm Turnbull, 29th Prime Minister, Australia.
  • China’s Quantum Leap Backward with Mr. James Appathurai, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, NATO; United States Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA); and Rear Admiral Michael Manazir, Vice-President, Boeing Global Sales and Marketing.
  • And, The Next 9/11: From Kabul or From California with Dr. Fatima Akilu, Executive Director, NEEM Foundation; United States Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA); Mr. Jawed Ludin, Former Deputy Minister Foreign Minister, Afghanistan; and Dr. Constance Stelzenmüller, Senior Fellow, Fritz Stern Chair on Germany and trans-Atlantic Relations at Brookings.

Over the past 13 years, Halifax International Security Forum has brought together leaders and influencers from over 80 democratic countries around the world to discuss and debate common goals and shared challenges.

Along with the plenaries and presentations, delegates to Halifax this year will recognize this year’s class of Peace With Women Fellows and award the John McCain Prize for Courage in Public Service which will be presented by Mrs. Cindy Hensley McCain.
