WASHINGTON, DC – Mr. Peter Van Praagh, President of the Halifax International Security Forum, today issued the following statement regarding the Honourable Peter MacKay’s announcement on Friday, May 29, 2015 that he would not seek reelection.
“Halifax International Security Forum thanks the Honourable Peter MacKay for his vision for and his leadership of the Halifax International Security Forum.”
In 2009, Peter MacKay had a vision to create a meeting place in Canada where Canadian ideas, and the ideas from other democratic countries, big or small, would come together to promote peace. “I am very proud that Halifax International Security Forum will always be associated with Peter MacKay and his commitment to create a strategic meeting place for the world’s democracies. I wish him and his growing family all the best.”
The 7th annual Halifax International Security Forum will be held November 20-22, 2015 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
