FOUR CANADIAN MINISTERS LEAD THE CONVERSATION AT THE HALIFAX INTERNATIONAL SECURITY FORUM

Washington, DC – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, the Honourable John Baird, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, will lead a Canadian delegation of military, diplomatic and security professionals to the Halifax International Security Forum, being held from the 22nd – 24th November, 2013.
Now in its fifth year, the Halifax International Security Forum is held annually in Halifax, Nova Scotia and challenges political and military leaders, academics, corporate leaders and members of the media with open, unscripted discussions about international security.
The Canadian delegation, which includes General Tom Lawson, Chief of the Defence Staff, will engage in on-the-record discussions during eight plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings with international counterparts and play host to three hundred prominent participants from over 50 countries.
“Minister Peter MacKay’s vision five years ago and Minister Nicholson’s commitment to this Forum’s continued success has led to a very important foreign policy tool that showcases Canadian ideas and initiatives, values and contributions to friends and allies around the world,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of the Halifax International Security Forum. “This vision and this commitment from Canadian leaders bring serious players from the United States and around the world to Halifax each November.”
