Leon Panetta, U.S. Secretary of Defense, to Attend 2011 Forum

On October 11, Halifax International Security Forum announced that the Honorable Leon Panetta, U.S. Secretary of Defense, will join the Honourable Peter MacKay, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, and other thoughtful and engaged leaders who deal with defense and security issues at Halifax International Security Forum—to be held November 18-20, 2011 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. “Halifax International Security Forum has quickly grown to become a key event on the international security calendar,” said Minister MacKay. “Secretary Panetta is joining an elite list of invitees to discuss the most pressing security issues in a unique and open forum.” In its third year, Halifax is a dynamic and innovative event held in an informal, unscripted, discussion-based atmosphere. It is a place where informed leaders from around the world come together to learn from each other, share opinions, generate new ideas, and put them into action. Foreign Affairs magazine, Halifax International Security Forum’s new and distinguished media partner, strengthens that tradition. “We’re very proud that Secretary Panetta will join Halifax this November,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum. “The security community is eager to hear from the new Secretary of Defense, and Halifax offers him an important international platform.” Photo Credit: NATO
