Halifax International Security Forum Hosts Canadian Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan

WASHINGTON, DC—Halifax International Security Forum was pleased to host Harjit Sajjan, Canadian Minister of National Defence, on Thursday, May 12 for a private, off-the-record briefing with members of the Halifax Agenda Working Group and other friends of the Forum.

The discussion was the second installment of the 2016 Halifax Chat Series, a series of exclusive briefings by Halifax International Security Forum’s most senior participants to inform the Halifax Agenda Working Group on the issues that government and military leaders judge as the most relevant and urgent security threats that must be considered for the agenda of the 2016 November Forum.

Minister Sajjan, who hosted the 2015 Halifax International Security Forum, took the post of Minister of National Defence on November 4, 2015 after the 2015 federal elections.

The Minister’s visit came as the Department of National Defence is seeking public consultation for its Defence Policy Review, announced by Minister Sajjan on April 6, 2015.

The 2016 Halifax International Security Forum will be held November 18-20 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
